About Appreciate
Appreciate is the trading and investing platform of Appreciate Broking IFSC Private Limited, a subsidiary of Appreciate Platform Private Limited. It is registered with the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) as a broker-dealer (Registration No. IFSC/BD/2022-23/0004) and holds NSEIX Stock Broker ID 10059, operating out of GIFT City (GIFT SEZ), Gandhinagar. The app lets Indian residents invest in US stocks, ETFs and Indian mutual funds from one place.
Appreciate's core offering is fractional US investing — you can buy a slice of companies like Apple, Microsoft or Tesla starting from ₹1. Trades are cleared and custodied through its US partner DriveWealth, with portfolios covered by SIPC insurance up to $500,000. The app also bundles a zero-balance, interest-bearing savings account via YES Bank, and Appreciate became the first fintech to offer mutual fund investing over the ONDC network.
Platforms

Regulatory & statutory charges
Besides the transaction and platform fee on US stock/ETF trades, sell orders attract US regulatory pass-through fees (SEC and TAF). These are fixed by US regulators and are similar across most US-investing apps.

| Charge | Fraction / Pro (self-directed) | Goals (SIP baskets) |
|---|---|---|
| Transaction fee | 0.05% or ₹5, whichever is higher | 0.05% or ₹5, whichever is higher |
| AUM fee | not applicable | 0.75% per annum |

| TAF fee (sell orders only) | $0.01 | $0.01 |
| Subscription fee | free | free |
| Remittance fee | free | free |
| Withdrawal fee | free | free |
Since your money leaves India under the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS), remittances above ₹10 lakh in a financial year attract 20% TCS (Tax Collected at Source), which can be claimed back while filing your ITR. This is a government rule that applies across all US-investing apps, not an Appreciate-specific charge.
Mutual funds
- Appreciate also distributes Indian mutual funds, including via the ONDC network.
- Stamp duty of 0.005% applies on the purchase (buy) side of mutual fund units, as mandated by the government.
- STT of 0.001% applies only on redemption (sell) of equity-oriented mutual fund units.
Charges for account opening
| Type of account | Charges |
|---|---|
| Resident individual account | free |
| NRI / non-resident account | not applicable — LRS is available only to resident individuals |
Subscription & account maintenance charges
Unlike a domestic demat account, your US holdings are custodied in the US by DriveWealth — Appreciate charges ₹0 subscription and ₹0 account maintenance, for life.
Regulatory pass-through & other charges
Appreciate does not publish any subscription, withdrawal, remittance or account-closure fee. The charges below are pass-through fees fixed by US regulators or the Indian government, not fees Appreciate itself levies.
Pros & cons
What users like
- Fractional ownership makes US blue-chip stocks accessible from as little as ₹1
- Zero subscription, zero remittance and zero withdrawal fees — just a flat 0.05% (min ₹5) transaction fee plus a ₹1 per-ticker platform fee
- Holdings are custodied via DriveWealth and carry SIPC insurance of up to $500,000
- Bundles a zero-balance, interest-bearing YES Bank savings account; first fintech to offer mutual fund investing on ONDC
What to watch for
- No Indian equities or F&O segment yet — domestic stock trading is listed as "coming soon"
- Goals (SIP) baskets carry an extra 0.75% per annum AUM fee on top of the per-order transaction fee
- Investments are routed under the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS), so they count toward your $250,000-per-year remittance limit and can attract TCS above ₹10 lakh/FY
