About BlinkX

BlinkX is the trading and investment platform of JM Financial Services Limited, part of the JM Financial group that has operated in India's financial markets since 1973. Headquartered in Mumbai, BlinkX is registered with SEBI (INZ000195834) and holds membership with NSE, BSE, MCX and NCDEX, with depository participant services under CDSL/NSDL, offering equity, F&O, currency, commodity, IPO, mutual fund and margin trading facilities.

Launched in 2022 as JM Financial's digital-first broking arm, BlinkX pairs a pay-per-trade Standard plan — ₹0 brokerage on equity delivery and a flat ₹20 per executed order on intraday and F&O — with unlimited-trading subscription plans starting at ₹249 for 2 months, aimed at high-frequency traders. Being backed by an established full-service group, it also layers in in-house research and investor education initiatives that many pure discount brokers don't offer.

Platforms

BlinkX App

Mobile app for equity, F&O, currency and commodity trading, IPO applications and mutual funds, with real-time market data, portfolio tracking and interactive charts.

BlinkX Web

Browser-based trading terminal covering the same asset classes as the app, built for traders who prefer a larger-screen workflow alongside watchlists and order management.

Research & Trader Connect

In-house research desk and advisory support drawing on the wider JM Financial group, plus Trader Connect community events aimed at trader education.

Regulatory & statutory charges

Besides brokerage, every trade attracts STT/CTT, exchange transaction charges, SEBI charges, GST and stamp duty. These are fixed by the government/exchanges and are the same across brokers.

Figures below are for the Standard plan. Under the unlimited subscription plans, brokerage is ₹0 on NSE/BSE equity, NSE F&O and NSE currency up to the plan's turnover cap; MCX commodity and BSE F&O aren't covered and revert to Standard rates.

On the Standard plan, BlinkX charges the same flat ₹20 per executed order on NSE currency derivatives and MCX/NCDEX commodity futures & options as it does on equity F&O. The unlimited subscription plans cover NSE currency but not MCX commodity or BSE F&O — check the current plan terms on the platform before trading those segments.

  • Stamp duty of 0.005% applies on the purchase (buy) side of mutual fund units, as mandated by the government.

Pros & cons

What users like

  • Backed by JM Financial, with an in-house research desk and advisory support — unlike purely self-directed discount platforms
  • Choice between a pay-per-trade Standard plan and unlimited-trading subscription plans from ₹249 for 2 months, aimed at active traders
  • ₹0 brokerage on equity delivery under the Standard plan, plus free trading and demat account opening
  • Broad market access through NSE, BSE, MCX and NCDEX membership, covering equity, F&O, currency and commodity segments

What to watch for

  • Demat AMC isn't free for life — it's waived only in year one, then charged at ₹300/year afterwards
  • Unlimited subscription plans exclude MCX commodity and BSE F&O, and carry turnover caps beyond which standard per-order rates apply
  • NRI trading accounts aren't currently offered, and the DP debit charge of ₹25 per ISIN runs higher than several peers
